I was watching some videos on Equine Assisted Therapy and came across a very interesting quote from Churchhill: “There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.”
Having some basic experience with horses, I can see where he is coming from with this. There is something about just being around a horse that makes you think about life. They are so strong and have muscles that are so big yet can be so gentle and kind. They can sense the feelings of those around them (personal experience from riding a horse in West Virgina when I was a kid and I was pretty scared. The horse, of course, knew of my feelings and wouldn’t listen to anything I did. Eventually he tired of me pulling the reigns and decided he had enough. One minute we are walking beside a pretty steep hill, the next I am on the ground. The horse did a sharp ninety degree turn up the hill and I fell right of his back.)
However, to this day I still respect and admire horses.
